Get url query string value in jquery

Suppose url is : http://www.example.com/?id=2&name=test

using the below function you can get the querystring value using jquery

function getquerystring(sParam)
{
var sPageURL = window.location.search.substring(1);
var sURLVariables = sPageURL.split(‘&’);
for (var i = 0; i < sURLVariables.length; i++)
{
var sParameterName = sURLVariables[i].split(‘=’);
if (sParameterName[0] == sParam)
{
return sParameterName[1];
}
}
}

alert(getquerystring(‘id’));
